Kitchen display (KDS)

The kitchen sees every order the moment it is placed

A screen that shows orders in cooking order, warns you before any order runs late, and sends each item to the kitchen that makes it.

Why a kitchen screen instead of paper?

Paper in a kitchen gets lost and wet, the cook cannot tell which order has waited longest, and an item cancelled after it printed keeps getting cooked. A kitchen screen fixes this: every order appears the moment the cashier sends it, a delivery app passes it in or a guest orders from the table QR, and leaves when it is done.

In Loqma the kitchen display is part of the same system: the same menu and the same order, so there are no two programs to connect and no order lost between them.

How it works in Loqma

  • Kitchen time, not order age

The clock starts when the order reaches the kitchen, not when it was opened at the cashier. A table that orders dessert an hour in does not show up as late.

  • A prep time for every item

Set a prep time per item: three minutes for a coffee, twenty-five for a mandi. A ticket turns amber at its slowest pending item's time and red when it passes it by half again.

  • Several kitchens

Grill, fryer, drinks: each item goes to the kitchen that makes it, each kitchen has its own screen or printer, and a kitchen can be set to take only certain order types.

  • Bump in one tap, undo in one tap

The cook strikes an item or the whole ticket. A mistaken tap comes back with "Undo", or from "Done", which lists the last hour's tickets.

  • Scheduled orders

An order booked for later shows a countdown to its time and changes colour twenty minutes before, so it starts on time.

  • All-day count

A count of every item pending across all tickets, so the grill makes eight burgers at once instead of one at a time.

The details that matter at peak

  • An item cancelled after it reached the kitchen stays on the ticket, struck in red and marked cancelled, so the cook stops
  • Add-ons and notes stand out under each item
  • When a table orders more, only the new items reach the kitchen, never what was already cooked
  • Items arrive in cooking order, and a second round comes after the first
  • The guest count of a dine-in order shows to the kitchen
  • Items that need no prep ride muted at the foot of the ticket and never count as work
  • A delivery-app order carries the logo of the app it came from
  • The top bar shows active orders, late orders and the longest wait
  • Prep-time reports
  • Runs on iPads, Android tablets and computers, with a kitchen printer too if you want paper

Common questions

A printer prints a paper ticket per order; the screen shows orders live, how long each has waited, and lets you strike what is done. In Loqma you can use both or either, set per kitchen.

No. Any iPad, Android tablet or computer with a screen will do, mounted on the kitchen wall.

Yes. Connected HungerStation, Keeta and Ninja orders enter the same screen once you accept them on the app's tablet, with the app's logo.

Yes. Create several kitchens, such as grill and drinks, link each item to its kitchen, and each kitchen sees and strikes only its own items without touching the others.

Yes. The kitchen display's reports show prep times, so you can see which items and which hours slow your kitchen down.
